LOS ANGELES, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- Disney and Marvel's superhero film "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" held the top spot at the North American box office for the second weekend in a row with an estimated 40 million U.S. dollars, according to data released Sunday by measurement firm Comscore.
It grossed an estimated 198.4 million dollars after 10 days of release in North America for a global cume of 368.7 million dollars.
The reboot, based on the Marvel Comics superhero team the Fantastic Four, is the 37th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Directed by Matt Shakman, the film stars Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal and Joseph Quinn, among others.
Universal's animated comedy film "The Bad Guys 2" earned second place with 22.2 million dollars this weekend. Based on the children's book series of the same name, the film is the sequel to 2022's "The Bad Guys."
Another newcomer, Paramount's action comedy film "The Naked Gun," landed in third place with 17 million dollars. ■
